Schuyler Rockwood, DO
Interventional Pain Management Physician and Co-Founder of Gold Coast Pain and Wellness
Dr. Schuyler Rockwood is a fellowship-trained interventional pain management physician and co-founder of Gold Coast Pain and Wellness Center. Built on a rigorous clinical foundation starting with extensive training in Emergency Medicine at Virginia Tech, Dr. Rockwood brings a highly adaptable, detail-oriented perspective to pain management. His background in acute emergency care provides him with exceptional skill in performing complex procedures under pressure, rapid differential diagnosis, and evaluating acute on chronic pain conditions with precision and composure.
Having recently completed fellowship training in interventional pain medicine at the University of New Mexico, Dr. Rockwood brings the latest advancements, techniques, and clinical insights directly to his practice. His modern fellowship training emphasizes the most current, evidence-based interventions and cutting-edge technology in pain management. His clinical expertise spans image-guided epidural and joint injections, medial branch blocks and radiofrequency ablation, sympathetic and peripheral nerve blocks, and advanced neuromodulation—paired thoughtfully with conservative modalities, physical therapy integration, and careful medication oversight.
Every initial evaluation with Dr. Rockwood focuses on diagnostic clarity. He takes the time to thoroughly review prior medical history, evaluate imaging, and conduct a detailed physical exam to identify the precise origin of discomfort. Patients receive clear, transparent guidance regarding their diagnosis, expected outcomes, and the rationale behind each recommended intervention or conservative strategy.
After returning to California with his wife and two young children, Dr. Rockwood co-founded Gold Coast Pain and Wellness Center to bring comprehensive, patient-centered interventional pain care to San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara counties. He is proud to serve the Central Coast community and partner with patients to help them reclaim their active lifestyle and daily function.
